Main features of the account

• No minimum age (the account can be operated on behalf of a child).
• Interest will be credited to the account on 5 April each year, or paid away monthly to a Bank/Building Society account if this option is selected.
  
  A bonus will apply for the first year (which is already included in the interest rate advertised at the time of application).
• The minimum opening deposit is £25,000 (£25,000 for monthly interest). Minimum operating balance £1.
• Additional deposits can be made by cash (although this facility is only available at agencies), cheque or bank transfer (BACS). Instructions on how to pay by BACS can be found here or in our document entitled Saving and Investing - Product Guide (118 kb PDF).
• Withdraw funds whenever you like without penalty.
