If you like hummus, then you know that pre-made hummus is expensive. The last time I checked, hummus cost a little less than £2 for a small container. If you know how little it actually costs to make hummus (and how easy it is), youíll know that paying £2 for hummus is crazy. Discover food cost and fully understand the price tags for your home cooking. A guideline for the ingredients:

1 can of chickpeas (if you want to make a larger quantity of hummus, add more chickpeas)

Ĺ cup of olive oil (use more or less depending on the consistency that you like for hummus)

Juice of 1 lemon (like a lemony hummus? Add more. Donít like lemon? Donít include it)

2 cloves of garlic (as with the lemon, add more or less depending on your preferences)

Toss all of the ingredients, except for the oil into your blender. Blend the ingredients until theyíre fairly smooth then, while the blender is running at a LOW speed, slowly drizzle in your olive oil.

Chill and enjoy with raw veggies, pita, crackers, on sandwiches, or in wraps. Remember to experiment: you can add a roasted red pepper or some diced jalapeno pepper for a little added zing, the possibilities are endless!
