If you can actually get a mortgage then prices are pretty good at the moment. I got a decent mortgage from Birmingham Midshires earlier this year and I thought it would be really difficult to get accepted but it was actually a breeze.
I just noticed this over on Love Money:
Now is the time to buy property
what do others feel? as someone who is currently looking for a new house and helped a few friends get mortgages it hasn't seemed that hard in the current market.
That said; One friend listed their property at the price he paid for it back in 2004, I thought it was ludicrous, I feel he should have tried for 10% more, it sold within 3 days of being on the market, he actually had 2 offers! Which I think took him by surprise, however he needed a quick sell as the place he was after was new on the market and he wanted to put an offer in quick.
That said, I've seen many houses in Edinburgh on the market for over a year, however when using a price sales site I noticed that all of them had bought the houses in between 2001 and 2004 and have listed them as double the price they paid for them. Ludicrous! If people are realistic about it, and don't over stretch themselves, the house market will get back on form.
Best Deal: Odeon Cinema tickets from as little as £5, UK deal: Cheap Cinema
