John Lewis Christmas Advert 2011 - The Long Wait

    John Lewis Christmas Advert 2011

for those that haven't yet seem the new John Lewis Christmas Advert for 2011.

what do people think of it?

The bit I find hardest to believe is that the kid waited until 7.55 to get up! I used to wake at 2am to run out to the lounge room and see what was there, I normally got up at 5 or 6 am anyway.

for those interested the song is by Slow Moving Millie track "Please, please, please"

what was said under the youtube vid:
"For gifts you can't wait to give" There is something even more wonderful than receiving the perfect gift, and that is knowing you have found the perfect gift for someone you love. This year we have brought to life the feeling of excitement and anticipation you get when you have found that perfect gift for someone and cannot wait for Christmas day to arrive.

Our advert follows one little boy who is impatiently counting down to Christmas. We see him tapping his fingers, gazing out of the window, even trying to cast a spell on a clock to make time go faster, but to no avail. The track 'Please, Please, Please let me get what I want', was originally recorded by the Smiths, and has been rerecorded by emerging artist Slow Moving Millie.

    John Lewis Christmas Advert 2010

I just remembered how much I hated last years ad, due to the fact that the dog was outside in the snow. Putting a stocking over it's kennel isn't going to stop it being cold!

The song was Ellie Goulding track was the cover of 'Your Song' by Elton John.

For those who care about showing they care. It's said that when giving, it's really the thought that counts, so this year our Christmas campaign focuses on the joy of giving the perfect gift.

Our TV ad shows a variety of people going that extra mile to make gift-giving special, and we see how a little inspiration can turn any product into the most personal present.

It was filmed on location in Scotland, including various places in Edinburgh. You'll probably recognise that the lyrics accompanying the ad are from Elton John's 'Your Song', and Brit Award winner Ellie Goulding has recorded this special cover version. We hope you will enjoy the campaign.
