now for my complaint about:
Ayers Rock Resort
Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge
Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge - Ayers Rock Resort - Uluru
I stayed there in the June of 2011, I had booked a double room and on arrival the Ayers Rock Resort - Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge - staff member at the counter said "the two of you are in a bunk room"
I replied, "but I booked a double bedroom"
the Ayers Rock Resort - Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge - staff member said "In Australia a double can sometimes mean bunks"
I replied "I've lived in Australia for about 25 years (showed her my NSW drivers licence) and never heard bunks been referred to as a double room"
Ayers Rock Resort - Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge - staff member said "erm very sorry in the Northern Territory double can mean bunks"
I replied "I've worked in Darwin and Alice and stayed in many hotels in many double bedrooms and never had this happen before"
Ayers Rock Resort - Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge - staff member replied "OK, I'm very sorry we're out of double bedrooms, unless you upgrade, it will just be $20"
However she did not state it would be $20 per night of a stay of 5 nights, an extra $100!!! There was no apology, when I said I wasn't paying that, they told me they had my credit card on record and would charge it anyway!
I would not recommend Ayers Rock Resort - Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge -Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge - Ayers Rock Resort - Uluru to anyone, they're a money grabbing company.
That said though it seems the entire Ayers Rock Resort is all the same company and the monopoly in the centre should be broken up as Longitude 131°, Luxury Wilderness Camp, Ayers Rock (Uluru), Australia, Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia is also owned by them. If you can camp just outside the resort area that'd be the best and most realistic experience!!!
When in Northern Territory steer clear of Ayers Rock Resort and Longitude 131°
